The Railways has started an online survey to know more about the public’s opinions on the AC locals on the Mumbai suburban network.

While AC local trains plying on suburban railways are getting little response from passengers, its survey has not received much response either. In about 25 days, 20,300 passengers have registered to participate.

The first air-conditioned locomotive arrived on the Western Railway in December 2017. After that on Central Railways CSMT to Kalyan main route from December 17, 2020, and from January 2021 on Thane to Vashi, Panvel Trans Harbor route, air-conditioned locals ran.

However, AC local trains on all three routes are getting very little response from the passengers. The passengers have reportedly been outraged by the extra fares and the cancellation of normal local rounds. Meanwhile, the survey started from the third week of June 2021.

Meanwhile, the survey seeks to know if the passengers are okay with the fares and the timings. Moreover, the survey ends with the Railways urging the passengers to write their opinions or suggestions in 50 words.

On the other hand, Central Railway will run 72 special trains from September 5 to September 22 for people travelling to their villages in Konkan during the festival of Ganeshotsav. Composition of all these specials: One AC-2 Tier cum AC-3Tier, Four AC-3 Tier, 11 Sleeper Class, 6-second class seating.

These trains will run between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus / Panvel and Sawantwadi Road / Ratnagiri to clear the extra rush of passengers during Ganpati Festival 2021.
