The Central Railway Administration has undertaken a drive to catch ticketless passengers. A special ticket check is now being conducted along with the regular ticket check. While a special ticket check was conducted at Dadar railway station recently, the passengers were cordoned off and checked (fortress check) at Thane station on Tuesday. A total of 1,309 ticketless passengers were caught and a fine of INR 4,19,235 was collected. It has come to light that the maximum number of ticketless passengers were caught in the second class coaches.


While the number of passengers is gradually increasing after the corona period, the Central Railway officials have indicated that the journey of ticketless passengers is increasing. This was affecting the number of ticket sales and revenue of Central Railway. As a result, Central Railway has launched a special ticket checking campaign. Thane station is the most crowded station after CSMT. Millions of passengers travel through Trans Harbor, the main route.

Hence, Thane station is known as a crowded station. As the number of ticketless passengers from this station is also high, a special ticket checking drive was conducted on Tuesday to arrest them. 12 RPF jawans were deployed for 58 ticket checks at footbridges, platforms and other places in Thane station.


Ticketless passengers travelling in second class coaches were caught the most by this team. More than 23 persons were caught by each ticket inspector in the squad and fined INR 7,486 each, Central Railway Administration informed.
