Mumbai: State to give jobs to heirs of employees killed in terror attack

The Higher and Technical Education Department has decided to give preference to the heirs of officers and employees of the higher education sector who died in the attacks of Naxalites, terrorists, robbers or were permanently disabled in government service on compassionate grounds.


The State has a policy of inducting the heirs of employees who died while working in government service on compassionate grounds. The general policy is that 20 percent of the annual vacancies in direct service quota in Group C and Group D cadres should be filled on a compassionate basis. From January 1, 2020, this policy has also been applied to officers in the state government service.

The General Administration Department has issued orders in this regard from time to time. This general policy of compassionate appointments is applicable not only to officers and employees of higher education, but also now to non-agricultural universities, government, private aided colleges, Directorate of Technical Education, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical Education University-Lonere, COEP University of Technology, A separate compassionate policy has been announced for government recognized Group A to Group D posts in Laxminarayan Abhinav University, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, as well as aided deemed universities.


Who benefits?

It has been decided to give appointments in the higher education sector on a compassionate basis to the heirs of officers and employees who were killed or permanently disabled in the attacks of Naxalites, terrorists, anti-social elements, robbers. The heirs of the officers, employees who are permanently suspended but give written permission to quit service on their own will get the benefit of compassionate appointment.
