Shiv Sena (UBT) MP from Thane Rajan Vichare met General Manager of Central Railway (CR) Naresh Lalwani to discuss various issues faced by passengers commuting on Harbour and Trans-harbour routes.
However, in order to provide safety and convivence to passengers, MP Vikhare demanded the railway authorities to resume AC local on the Panvel to CSTM Harbor route along with trans-harbour routes like Vashi to Thane and Panvel to Thane.
Additionally, MP Vichare noted that Mumbai, Thane railway station gets the highest revenue from passengers. They should get maximum facilities. Also, Thane railway station is one of the crucial stations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
In the meeting, Railway Authority reviewed the development work of Thane Railway Station. The railway officials informed MP Vikhare that the plan for redevelopment of Thane railway station includes rooftop plaza, separation of going and coming passengers, waiting hall, lift and escalator arrangement, multi-level car parking facility, multimodal transport, connectivity etc.
On this occasion, MP Vikhare also demanded the early opening of Digha Railway Station on the Trans harbour route for passengers.
Earlier this month, a report shared by the railway authorities revealed that they have prepared a redevelopment plan of Thane station that involves modernising the station and providing additional facilities to improve the commuting experience.
