From 32,000 to over 4.8 million followers in 3 years, the official Mumbai Police twitter account has gained popularity with quirky tweets that resonate with the youth. People least expect humour, sarcasm and irony from the police department but the Mumbai Police Twitter account has broken free from this stereotype.
Whilst all the government officials are on twitter, The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) was not going to stay behind the game. The BEST has started two Twitter handles i.e. @MyBESTBus and @MyBESTElectric to welcome complaints and grievances from commuters. Anil Patankar, Chairperson of BEST Committee stated that the Twitter profile will be used for important public announcements related to the bus service and power supply and it will further be a useful tool for the authorities to address public grievances.
