Gear up to pay more for flight tickets and witness delays, as India’s two busiest airports - Mumbai and Delhi, will be closing their runways to carry out maintenance that will take place at different periods in November (Delhi) and February 2019 (Mumbai). 

It is expected that more than 2,000 flights might get canceled or rescheduled during the said period. One runway at Delhi airport will be closed for 13 days in November while the airport in Mumbai will remain shut for six hours thrice a week between February 7, 2019, and March end.

One of the airline's executive said that during both the closures, domestic flights will be impacted the most and many airlines will cancel flights because of which fares will increase.

According to the operator, the shutdown is likely to impact 1,300 flights in Delhi airport and nearly 700 flights in Mumbai. On October 23, Mumbai airport will be closed also for a few hours for runway maintenance which is likely to impact at least 32 flights.
