Now, daily commuters and leisure travellers can enjoy water taxi services from Mumbai to Alibaug today onwards, November 1.
The high-speed catamaran service between Ferry Wharf Domestic Cruise Terminal in Mazgaon to Mandwa Jetty is expected to cover the distance in about 40 minutes.
There will be a total of six services, three on each side. According to reports, the water taxi can ferry with a capacity of 200 people.
The vessel Nayan Xi operated by Nayantara Shipping Pvt Ltd has been built in Goa, and arrived in Mumbai on October 12. Since then, the catamaran has been carrying out trials to ensure a smooth sail. It will change the standards and quality of water transportation, said the officials.

Features:
This is the first high speed double-deck steady catamaran of its size in Mumbai that is capable of cruising across the ocean.
Although its speed can go up to 22 knots, favourably it shall sail at 15 knots.
The speed is due to its 2-750 HP Volvo Penta high-speed engines.
The lower deck has 140 seats and 60 seats are arranged on the upper deck.
The vessel is completely air-conditioned, with two washrooms on the upper and four on the lower deck.
It is also GPS enabled.
Cost:
Pricing shall be INR 400 for the lower deck and INR 450 for the upper/business class deck.

Besides, to ensure last-mile connectivity from Belapur Station, a sharing rickshaw will also be available to commute to the jetty for INR 10; from Gateway of India to Churchgate, the share-a-cab option will be available at INR 20.
