Western Railway (WR) has reached an important landmark - punctuality. As per figures published by the authorities, Western Railway’s punctuality was rated at 92.66% until February for the 2019-2020 period. It is said that this is a 2.67% increase from the target set by WR.

It is worth mentioning that this punctuality figure is the best among all Zonal Railways. Also crucial is the fact that the authorities reached this landmark despite multiple repairs, construction, as well as doubling and maintenance, works happening in and around the railway path. The figures are even more impressive when we consider that WR recorded punctuality of 91.58% in the same period last year.

“Western Railway has always strived to provide its passengers with best facilities, be it in terms of amenities or ensuring that its passengers reach their destination on time. With the dedicated efforts and intensive monitoring, WR has been able to achieve number one position in punctuality of mail/express trains over entire Indian Railways,” Chief Public Relations Officer for WR, Ravinder Bhaskar said.

“The WR will ensure that it keeps up this momentum and retain the number one position in future too,” Bhaskar added.

Western Railway has made significant improvements not only in terms of timings but also in the quality of service offered to its commuters. In January, WR announced the addition of shopping carts on its AC trains travelling the Virar-Churchgate route between 8 AM to 9 PM.
