Out of the eight new services, two will run in peak hours, and four each will go in the "Up" and "Down" direction.

The Western Railway (WR) from Monday, November 22, will introduce eight additional air-conditioned (AC) train services in Mumbai. This will take the aggregate number of AC trains to 20.

According to reports, an official said that the AC trains will be initiated in the suburban section of the WR for the convenience of passengers. A PTI report also suggests that out of the eight new services, two will run in peak hours, and four each will go in the "Up" and "Down" direction.

In the "Up" direction, one train will run between Virar and Churchgate station, two between Borivali and Churchgate and one between Goregaon and Churchgate. While in the "Down" direction, one train will operate between Churchgate and Nallasopara, two between Churchgate and Borivali and one between Churchgate and Goregaon.

Presently, a total of 26 local trains are operating in Central Railways (CR), out of which 16 are operating on the Trans-Harbour line between Thane-Vashi-Panvel. The remaining trains are operating on the mainline.

Earlier reports had also stated that the Union Railways Ministry is also planning to bring down the prices of AC tickets. Meanwhile, WR on an experimental basis is planning to permit passengers with regular to travel in the AC trains and pay the difference in fare during the journey.
