The FOB has been closed keeping the commuter's safety in mind and the work will be completed in 15 days. However, the ramp near platform 1 will be closed for the next 90 days from March 17 to June 16, 2019.
Authorities on Sunday closed a foot-over-bridge (FOB) at Dadar station towards the south of the platforms in order to fix a ramp and a staircase that connects them.
Despite being a Sunday, commuters found it difficult to cross the station area or reach the Central Railway side and hence the other FOB on the south side was packed to the brim. No alternative was provided regarding the same, and when asked how they intend to handle the crowd on the weekdays, officials mentioned there would be an obvious inconvenience but the FOB cannot be opened.
Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Bhakar said that the staircase on the south end of the FOB needed urgent repairs in the larger interest of passenger safety. They are expediting work and it will be completed in the next 15 days. Commuters using platform 2 and 3 will be affected due to the closure but there is no problem on the other platforms.
However, the FOB's ramp near the Dadar flower market will be out of bounds for a longer duration as the BMC plans to rebuild the same. Bhakar further added that the bridge was inspected by officials on Friday and it was decided that the ramp near platform 1 and staircase at platform 2 and 3 need to be closed temporarily.
The staircase will be closed tentatively until March 29, 2019, and the ramp for the next 90 days from March 17 to June 16, 2019.
