Yuva Sena chief and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Worli Constituency, Aditya Thackeray recently flagged-off 25 mini buses from Wadala depot. He further said that Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) "is on its path to build a network of 6400+ buses to cater to the last mile in Mumbai. With lower fares, better buses, truly BEST is the lifeline of the city".

Notably, on New Year Eve, BEST added 20 more buses to its fleet and scrapped 70 out of 120 old double-decker buses. It has also added 50 more double-decker buses. Interestingly, the 70 scrapped buses will be sold to self-help groups especially women self-help groups instead of selling it to the scarps.
These busses will be majorly deployed in commercial areas like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Nariman Point and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Earlier there were speculations that BEST will discontinue the double-decker buses, however, the BEST officials confirmed that they are scraping some buses that have outlived their lifespan but not stoping it.
