A Jaipur resident was found hanging on the outer walls of Jaipur’s famous Nahargarh fort. The death is said to be associated with the protests against the film Padmavati as the message written on a rock next to the dead body read-“Hum putle nahin jalate .... latkate hain … Padmavati ka virodh” which means we don’t burn statues but hang them…Protest against Padmavati.
Rajasthani Police is investigating the case to find out whether it was a murder or a suicide. The forensic team present at the spot mentioned that the way the body was hanging at the parapet; it could not have been a suicide. The dead body has been identified by the police as Chetan Kumar (35-year-old).
Shree Rajput Karni Sena which has been protesting against the movie has claimed that they are not involved in the incident. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor Padmavati’s team have been facing the wrath of political groups ever since the release date was announced. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Padmavati was supposed to release on 1 December but has now been pushed indefinitely.
