Ranveer Singh releases his look as 'Kapil Dev' from '83

Directed by Kabir Khan, the film will focus on Indian Cricket team's journey and victory in 1983 cricket world cup. Marking his birthday, Ranveer shared his look as Kapil Dev on social media accounts, giving his fans a special surprise.


Ace actor Ranveer Singh is all set to play Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan's directorial '83. The team recently flew to London to begin filming, after meeting and spending time with the cricketers themselves. Marking his birthday, Ranveer today revealed the first look of his character and took to his social media to share his photo as Kapil Dev.

With an uncanny resemblance to the former all-rounder cricketer Kapil Dev, Ranveer Singh surprised all his fans and industry members. He shared the photo with a message that read “On my special day, here’s presenting THE HARYANA HURRICANE 🌪 KAPIL DEV, 🏏🏆 ”

Kapil Dev in a recent interview had spoken about the efforts Ranveer and Kabir have been taking to make the film look as real as possible, along with ensuring the looks. “He is a fabulous actor. He and Kabir Khan are taking care of every small thing. They are taking care of how I speak, my pronunciation. Ranveer thought that since I am a fast bowler, I must be aggressive and he wanted to learn how I express my anger. I told him, I might have gotten angry on the field, but off the field, I never lost my head,” Kapil said.

The film boasts of a stellar cast which includes Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jatin Sharma, Ammy Virk, and Hardy Sandhu. '83 will focus on Indian cricket team's journey and win under Kapil’s captainship as the team to clinch their first-ever World Cup trophy in 1983.
