As a part of his India tour, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dalai Lama, Congress President Rahul Gandhi after addressing the students at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The CEO’s visit is part of Twitter’s #PowerOf18 initiative which encourages youth to exercise their Right To Vote. The initiative has been designed by keeping in mind the upcoming 2019 Elections in India.
A major discussion about the outspread of fake news took place throughout the meetings with Rahul Gandhi, who posted about their meeting on Twitter after it concluded,

Speaking about the misuse of the platform to spread fake news, Dorsey mentioned that Twitter is focused on not letting people use the platform inappropriately. According to him, misinformation which misleads people into performing some untoward action is dangerous and that needs to be kept in check.
However, he also pointed out how the micro-blogging platform had assisted some of the most influential movements across the globe including #MeToo and #BlackLivesMatter movement. The #MeToo movement assisted sexual assault victims to speak about the unfortunate incidents and voice out their experiences.
