The Mumbai Traffic Police has announced special traffic regulations for Mankhurd and adjoining areas from May 26 to June 9, to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety during the festive period.
In an official notification, the police said that in Mankhurd Traffic Division, vehicles carrying goats for sacrifice on the occasion of Bakri Eid 2025, will be mainly using Shivaji Nagar Junction, Baingan wadi Junction, I.O.C. Junction (on Mankhurd-Ghatkopar Link Road) to go to Deonar Slaughter house. Hence, it is necessary to regulate the traffic of heavy vehicles on these routes to avoid inconvenience to public and regular traffic.
According to the notification, all heavy and light vehicles (except BEST buses and essential services) will be prohibited 24x7 on several major routes including Panjarapol Junction to Morandi Railway Station and Shivajinagar to Govandi Railway Station. Additionally, some roads will be made one-way to ease congestion.
Roads Closed:
As per the notice from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Eastern Suburbs), heavy and light vehicles — except BEST buses and essential service vehicles — will not be allowed at any time on key roads.
One-Way Traffic:
If needed, the road from Tanaji Malusare Chowk to Govandi Station and onwards to Jhatka Gate will be made one-way for all heavy vehicles during this period.
Alternative Routes
To avoid traffic jams, motorists are advised to take the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road or V.N. Purav Marg.

Temporary Parking Facilities:
To handle the large number of visitors coming to buy animals, temporary parking areas have been arranged.
Temporary parking facilities have been arranged for animal buyers and sellers near the slaughter house, including an open area on Peripheri Road and near the 600 Tenements Building.
For vehicles transporting animals to and from the Deonar abattoir, specific routes have been assigned. Madhukar Kadam Marg will stay open for these vehicles, but parking is not allowed on any nearby roads.
Authorities have requested citizens to follow the traffic rules and cooperate to ensure a safe and smooth Eid celebration.
