Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have been on a significant increase since the last few weeks, however, the number of cases recovering post the treatment has also seen a rise. Besides the general public, employees from the state government, BEST, Police and the railways are also infected with the virus, and several have passed away due to the same.

As per reports, a total of 192 employees, retired employees and family members from the Western and Central Railway's team in Mumbai, have died due to coronavirus. Under the new guidelines issued by the ministry, these departments have been operational and staff members have been working as a part of essential services. The number of cases in the WR and CR teams has been increasing frequently.

Doctors across the world have recommended plasma therapy helpful for the treatment of coronavirus, however, the donors aren't sufficient in the state. The state government recently asked the COVID19 patients who have been successfully treated, to step forward and support the ones in need, as the therapy is said to give a new life to another patient.

However, employees from the railways and their families have stated that they are not receiving plasma therapy and there are no donations being made. Many employees who are currently infected with the virus are undergoing treatment at the Railway's Jagjivanram Hospital in Mumbai.

As per data, a total of 2079 railway employees have been treated successfully and the recovery rate stands at 85 per cent. However, as of September 18, 2020, more than 190 people had died from the railway's department, out of which 63 employees were from Western Railway and 129 from the Central Railway. Officials are also concerned about the situation, as the department has recorded 15 deaths in the last 20 days.

Data released by the state government, as of October 6, 2020, states that Maharashtra has a total of 14,65,911 COVID19 cases, out of which 11,79,726 have recovered. A total of 38,717 have passed away deaths. Pune and Mumbai and Pune lead with the highest number of cases.
