Days after the Dharavi LPG cylinder fire incident, it came to light that the death toll now jumped to five on Monday, September 6. 

According to a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official, two more persons succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a hospital in Mumbai, which took the toll to five.

Reports stated that two of the injured persons, identified as Shaukat Ali (58) and Feroz Ahmed (35) were declared dead on Monday by doctors, the official said.

Three other critically injured persons, including an eight-year-old child, had died during treatment last week.

Of which, eight were injured critically and were undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Moreover, a 28-year-old man was arrested by the Shahunagar police station on Monday, August 30, for a liquefied petroleum gas leak and subsequent fire in a slum building in Dharavi. He was registered under IPC Article 337 (Life Threatening) 338 (Serious Injury Threatening Life) and 285 (Negligence Related to Fire or Combustible Substances). However, a district court in Mumbai granted bail to him.
