The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) commissioner Ajoy Mehta announced that the civic body will build three CNG crematoriums for pets at three different places.
The said CNG crematorium will be built in Mahalaxmi, Deonar of eastern suburbs and Malad of western suburbs,” Dr Yogesh Shetye, slaughterhouse, Deonar.
All three crematoriums will be built on public-private-partnership (PPP) and around 2 crores will be spent.
Currently, there is one crematorium for pets in Parel which is run by an NGO, while the other crematorium is situated at Borivai’s Kora Kendra which is also run by an NGO.
