Mumbai: 3 injured in house collapse in Marine Lines

A house collapse incident came to light on Friday morning near Shamaldas Junction, Marine Lines, Mumbai. The incident took place at Mehkar House on JSS Road, adjacent to Princess Street, Marine Lines. The incident was reported by VHF at 08:25 am.


The incident involved partial collapse of an empty MHADA Cess building, which was a ground plus three-storey structure. Three people were injured in the collapse. They were immediately taken to GT Hospital for medical aid. According to the information received from the Ward Control on the incident, the scaffolding made for repair had fallen down along with the balcony. For security reasons, the site has been barricaded.

The first person has been identified as Arjun Khan, a 26-year-old male. The second person, Bapun Sheikh, a 20-year-old male, suffered minor injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the casualty department of the hospital.


Local authorities and emergency services responded quickly to the incident, providing timely medical assistance to the injured. The site has been secured to prevent further accidents and investigations are likely to be carried out to determine the exact cause of the collapse.
