A tragic mishap has occurred at the Mumbai-Pune expressway on Monday early morning, October 18.

In the incident, three people were killed and six injured as seven vehicles – which includes two tempos, a car, a private bus and a trailer -- collided on Pune-Mumbai Expressway. The collusion happened in Borghat near Khopoli.

The incident took place around 5:30 am in the morning where a truck carrying chicken was dashed from behind and later other vehicles collided with each other.

According to reports, in this bizarre accident, the Swift car got stuck in between two tempos and it was smashed. Following this, the two passengers in the car died due to serious injuries and the tempo driver also died in the accident.

Meanwhile, no one from the trailer suffered injuries, reports stated. The accident created minor traffic congestion on the road for some time. The police later cleared the road by removing the truck.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital by some locals but died after some time. However, the officials said that they have not recovered any photo identity proof from their pockets; hence they still don’t know their names. Moreover, officials are making efforts to find out their family members.

A case has been registered for negligence under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Motor Vehicle (MV) Act against a truck driver.
