A shocking incident occurred between Diva and Mumbra stations, where eight passengers fell off a local train. Initial reports say six people have died. At first, it was thought they fell from the Pushpak Express, but that is not true. Central Railway CPRO Swapnil Nila clarified the details.

Some passengers were standing on the footboard of the local trains. As two trains passed each other between Mumbra and Diva, the footboard passengers collided, causing eight of them to fall. The incident happened around 9:30 am, and ambulances arrived by 9:50 am. All injured were taken to the hospital.

New trains will come equipped with automatic door-closing systems. Existing ICF coaches will be fitted with retrofitted automatic doors as well. Central Railway is planning to add third and fourth lines between Kalyan–Kasara and Kalyan–Karjat, and fifth and sixth lines from Dadar/Diva to CSMT. The line up to Kurla is ready, and land acquisition for the remaining stretch is underway. The signaling system at CSMT has also been upgraded.

Currently, 22 local services run and will be increased soon. Both trains involved were local trains—Pushpak Express was not involved. One injured passenger said the accident happened because people were hanging at the doors of both moving locals.

One train was heading towards Kasara and the other towards CSMT. Swapnil Nila said this is the first time in Central Railway’s history that such an incident has occurred with two local trains passing each other in opposite directions.
