As per reports, it has come to light that the Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has emerged as the lowest bidder for constructing the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s ambitious Dahisar-Bhayander Link Road (DBLR).

The DBLR is a vital link that is proposed to ease connectivity between the western suburbs and the outskirts of the Mumbai. 

This road will alleviate congestion at Dahisar check naka by reducing the load on it by approximately 30-35 per cent. Additionally, it will create an alternative route to Mira-Bhayandar.

Taking it to Twitter, the civic body stated that the 45-meter wide elevated road connecting Dahisar (West) to Bhayandar (West) will be ready in four years. BMC is now looking forward to improved connectivity with this last leg of Coastal Road!

The construction of the flyover is scheduled to commence next year. The estimated cost of the entire project is INR 31.86 billion, and it is expected to be completed by 2026.

The other two interested bidders for the project were J Kumar Infraprojects and Afcons Infrastructure. 

So the linking road project has been in discussion for the past 7 to 8 years. However, due to engineering challenges, the link remained unconstructed. The project is being implemented by the BMC with assistance from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
