A major tragedy was averted on Tuesday night. An alert motorman A K Upreti stopped the CST local train in time after he spotted a nine feet long iron piece on the tracks between Reay Road and Dockyard stations of Harbour line. GRP has arrested Moharali Shakur Ali Sheikh (26) and Aziz Hussain Sheikh (48) in the incident.

The accused stole the iron piece from a construction site near Sandhurst Road station. After crossing Dockyard station, they threw the iron piece out on track as they could not unload it. They wanted to sell it to a scrap dealer informed officer.

Both the accused have been booked under section 150 (1) (2) (maliciously wrecking or attempting to wreck a train) of the Railways Act, 1989.
