A passenger was seriously injured after falling on the railway track between Kopar and Diva railway stations near Dombivli on Monday morning in a crowded local train that was heading towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. The accident took place between Kopar and Diva railway stations. The head of the fallen passenger was the most hit and was bleeding from the head. He was unconscious.


Five passengers gave him first aid. Both Diva and Kopar railway stations were far from the accident site. So these passengers stopped a local coming from Dombivli. The injured passenger was put in a coach and handed over to the custody of railway security personnel at Diva for further treatment. The passenger has not yet been identified. This passenger was travelling by hanging from the door of a superfast local coming from Kalyan. As the local picked up speed after Dombivli, Kopar, the passenger may have lost his balance and fell on the railway track, the Railway Police has expressed.

As two to three passengers die every week on the Kopar to Mumbra railway line, various railway passenger organisations have been requesting the senior officials of the railways from time to time to take serious note of this matter from the railway administration. Lata Argade, President of Suburban Railway Mahila Pravasi Sangathan, has been raising the issue of accidents in this area in every meeting with senior railway officials and demanding the authorities to take some measures in this regard.
