The Income Tax Department has introduced some changes in the regulations for the preparation of the card which consists of compulsion to link Aadhar card and PAN before the deadline.
Over the last few years, Permanent Account Number (PAN) card has gained significant importance in India as the same is being accepted as an identity proof for several purposes. However, it is being reported that there have been various changes proposed by the Income Tax (IT) Department for the application of the card, which will be effective April 1, 2019, onwards.
Officials from the respective team have made it mandatory to link Aadhar card with the PAN card, latest by March 31, 2019. If the individual fails to do so, then the PAN card will be considered invalid. Furthermore, the PAN card will now have a QR code along with the details such as Name, Date of Birth, and Photo. The QR code will assist the user in a quick scan for ID verification purposes.
The quick scan can be conducted through a mobile phone, using the Enhanced PAN QR code reader app, which one can download from the Google Play store. Meanwhile, the old PAN card will remain active until the new PAN card is not available for the applicant.
