On Wednesday, June 22, active COVID-19 cases in Mumbai and Maharashtra fell for the first time after consistently rising since Mid-May. The active cases in the state fell to 24,639, whilst that in Mumbai reduced to 13,501. 

Mumbai on Wednesday reported 1,648 new coronavirus cases and has an overall recovery rate of 97 per cent. In addition to this, Maharashtra registered 3,260 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours. 

Moreover, on the same day, Maharashtra had 3,260 cases and Mumbai had 1,648. It is pertinent to note that cases in the city have been reducing gradually since June 16.

Similarly, three deaths were added to Maharashtra's coronavirus pandemic numbers of which two deaths transpired in Mumbai while one happened in Raigad. 

According to reports, on the other hand, in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, it was brought to light that the test positivity rate in four districts is greater than Maharashtra's average of 10.64 per cent. These four districts namely include Mumbai, Palghar, Thane and Pune at 16 per cent, 15 per cent, 13 per cent and 13 per cent respectively. 

On the flip side, in India, 13,313 fresh cases and 38 deaths were reported in the 24 hours ending at 8 am on Thursday.
