People who are already reeling under inflation and increase in the prices of oil, now have to face a rise in onion prices. In the last few days, the drought-like situation across the state has affected the onion production and its prices.

This year, as onions were produced in fewer numbers, only 40-60 onion trucks have arrived in Mumbai because of which, onion prices have increased by ₹30 in Mumbai, Thane, and other areas.
In the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) market, onions which were earlier being sold at ₹17-₹22, the same is now being sold at around ₹30-₹35 per kg. In the last week, onions in APMC market were being sold at ₹10-₹15.
