Thousands of devotees flock to Bandra to attend the annual convocation and celebrate the birth of Mother Mary at Mount Mary Church. Due to this, Mumbai Police has made elaborate traffic arrangements to manage the crowd in Bandra West. The restrictions will be in place from 6 am to 11 pm every day from September 14 to September 21.
Every year, the Mount Mary Basilica in Bandra attracts lakhs of tourists from all over India. Due to this, traffic restrictions have been imposed in the area.
Several major roads near the church will be closed or one-way:
Mount Mary Road: Completely closed to vehicles except residents with official passes and emergency services.
Kane Road: Vehicles will be allowed to travel one-way from Mount Mary Road to B.J. Road; access from B.J. Road is closed unless you have a local pass.
Pereira Road: Limited one-way traffic from east to west; no access from B.J. Road.
St. John Baptista Road: Accessible only to pass holders, otherwise closed.
Carmel Church Junction (Chapel Road to Veronica Road): Vehicles are not allowed to turn right.
