Mumbai development work to be completed by June

CM Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday informed that the redevelopment and beautification work in Mumbai are to be completed by the end of June.

With work with regards to redevelopment being ongoing in Mumbai, according to sources, the city’s footpaths, flyovers, beautification of the islands, increase in the number of public toilets, further construction of food hubs and renovation of bus stands are to be completed by the end of June.

On Tuesday, January 19, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray reiterated the same further directing the workers to deepen and widen the nallas along with cleaning them in order to avoid water logging during the monsoons. Furthermore, the Chief Minister also instructed to pay special attention to the mandals, parks and roads in the metropolis.

Moreover, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ajoy Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Ashish Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge, Mumbai Municipal Commissioner I. S. Chahal, Additional Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, Sanjeev Jaiswal, Suresh Kakani, P. Velarasu etc. were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the street food hub is being set up in Mumbai for which 62 roads have been selected. In addition, the number of latrines in the toilets will be increased and 22,774 new latrines will be installed, out of which, 20,301 toilets will be completed by the end of June. Besides, 8,637 new toilets will be constructed.

On the other hand, rainwater harvesting is being done in 386 places in the metropolis. Out of this, work in 171 places has been completed whereas the work is in progress at 120 places. Therefore, the work of 291 places will be completed before the monsoon season hits Mumbai.
