The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government called for a Maharashtra Bandh on October 11, to protest the violence at Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri. In light of this bandh, reports state that only essential services are operational.

According to the BEST, eight of its buses were vandalized in various locations across the island city since midnight and 8 am on Monday, thus they have sought protection from the police.

In other developments, it is stated by the spokesperson of BEST Undertaking, Manoj Varade, that BEST buses were damaged in areas such as Dharavi, Mankhurd, Shivaji Nagar, Charkop, Oshiwara, Deonar, and in Malah near Inorbit Mall, highlighted reports.

According to accounts, locals were also upset since buses were seen parked inside depots during the rush hours in the morning. Apart from this, several videos and pictures have surfaced on social media showing people standing in long queues for autorickshaws in Thane since TMT buses weren’t on the roads, which left commuters scouring for solutions.

Based on reports, a bus was also damaged in Malad’s Malvani location, with reports claiming that a senior official from the BEST has elucidated on how only four BEST buses were functional through Mumbai and apart from this bus operations weren’t functional in the city and its suburbs.
