The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal stated that it would be considered unethical and unjust to provide workers in the healthcare sector with the third dose since many people haven’t attained either of their doses yet, reported the Times of India.

The debate surrounding if healthcare personnel should be administered a third jab attained speed lately post MBBS students from Mumbai’s KEM hospital testing positive, in spite of them being fully inoculated. Based on the account, the civic authority had to face questions from the Union regarding the infection.

Chahal elucidated in the account that those from the Union were inquisitive about what was resulting in the cases and wanted to understand if those infected were vaccinated. The commissioner stated that from the 31 infected, a mere one was unvaccinated because he was below the age of 18. Adding that this doesn’t speak to the power of the vaccine or the idea that they didn’t attain a booster shot. He further went on to claim that since the majority of the students were asymptomatic it was only for observation purposes that they were hospitalized, highlighting the effectiveness of coronavirus vaccines.
