As the world is hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, wearing face masks and maintaining social distance has become mandatory. However, social distancing was not possible in Dharavi, Asia's largest slum area, due to its huge population. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) then got rooms in 211 hotels in Mumbai and moved around 25,000 individuals with COVID-19 symptoms into these rooms and other places.

A lot of people praise BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal for the way the situation was handled. BMC is India's richest civic body with an annual budget of INR 39,000 crores and it also looks after a population of around 1.3 crores.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra registered less than 1,000 coronavirus cases for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, November 8.
