In an attempt to fasten the speed of COVID-19 vaccination in the city, with a special focus on the second dose, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has commenced night vaccination from Monday, December 13, highlighted reports.
Based on accounts, Mangala Gomare, the BMC executive health officer elaborated on how in certain wards the night vaccination drive commenced on Monday, whilst from Tuesday, December 14, each ward will have at least one night centre. In every ward, a night mobile team or a coronavirus vaccination centre will be operational from 6 pm to 10 pm.
These teams will offer their services at railway stations, slums, other similar settlements and construction sites. The focus of the night team will be to inoculate late working employees, labourers, hawkers, street-dwellers, amongst others, who cannot afford to get off work in the day to get vaccinated.
According to narratives, on Tuesday, 60,370 jabs were administered in Mumbai. With this, 80.25 per cent of the 92.3 lakh population are completely vaccinated. Suresh Kakani, BMC additional municipal commissioner elucidated that to date 105 per cent of the citizens have taken their first jab.
