Post- Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) elections, the newly elected corporators were waiting with bated breath for a new branded laptop but to their dismay, they will have to work on tablets instead. BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta has addressed the technical department to keep tabs ready which soon will be handed over to corporators.

232 laptops distributed, yet corporators carry files!

In BMC, there are 227 elected and 5 nominated corporators, which totals up to 232. In last two terms, laptops were distributed to these corporators to promote paperless work but nothing sort of happened. The reason why the BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta asked the technical team to distribute tabs to corporators.

Tab will be beneficial in later stages

As per the BMC officials, they believe that corporators will not be able to use tab in first few days, so they will be carrying files and simultaneously will learn the tab. This will especially be used to keep an eye on expenses and distribution of funds. Officials believe that 75 per cent work will be paperless.
