Considering the surge in the fraudulent practices done by the BMC contractors, BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta has issued an order to link the reports of the contractors to their respective UIDs. As a matter of fact, the contractors will not receive their balance amount of money until they upload this information. Hence, the contractors who were earlier working in a different department and now in a different one seem to be quite anxious about this new regulation.
A lot of citizen development works are done by the BMC contractors on request basis after which a report of the works done by these contractors is prepared. But this report is only circulated within their respective departments, which is why the BMC has taken such a step.
It is estimated that this whole process will be completed by 31 May. After this regulation if an official of a particular department gets transferred, the new official will be then updated with the complete information of the concerned contractors. Hence, the information for all the contractors will be uploaded by the Assistant Engineers, Secondary Engineers, and Executive Engineers of different departments.
