Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started tightening the curbs in order to halt the third wave of the coronavirus.

Moreover, arrangements are being made to stop the COVID-19 third wave at the ground level. According to sources, the BMC has formed 24 special teams. Their responsibility has been given to the Assistant Commissioner of all the wards. These include Quarantine Center in every ward, activation of Jumbo Center, door-to-door survey, war rooms and others. Due to this, the Assistant Commissioner of all the wards has been given special responsibility. He has been charged with the responsibility of finding out how many patients are being found in his ward, what more needs to be done for their treatment, etc.

Furthermore, the civic body is especially monitoring the availability of beds, oxygen and ventilator status in the hospital. A daily report will also be prepared for this. According to the CoWIN portal, the vaccination figure in Mumbai has crossed 1 crore. Mumbai has completed this figure in 230 days.

Maharashtra has set a target to vaccinate over 20 million people for the coronavirus in the month of September. This would approximately come down to 700,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses per day from the average of 482,695 doses administered in a day in August. As of now, the state ranks first in terms of fully vaccinated population in the country with 17,261,027 citizens receiving both doses. So far, the state has administered 62,940,932 doses.
