BMC Recruitment exams to be cancelled?

In response to the demands to cancel the examination due to its difficulty, BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta retorted that if the examinations were really so difficult then how did one lakh six thousand candidates from two lakh eighty thousand candidates pass the examination.

Due to the difficulty of the fourth-grade examination of BMC, the Chief Minister has directed to cancel the examination, but BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta has stated there was nothing wrong with the examinations. 

The Commissioner said that the number of candidates getting more than 90 marks in this examination is 34, the number of candidates getting 80 to 90 marks is 1500, so if the question papers were difficult, they wouldn’t have scored whatever they did.

The Commissioner made this disclosure while making a statement in the budget meeting of the Municipal Hall. Ajoy Mehta stated that if the examinations were really so difficult then how did 1,06,000 candidates from 2,80,000 candidates pass the examination.


The major objective of the examination was to increase transparency and pick the most brilliant students out of the applicants.” Ajoy Mehta

Earlier, an application was made for the post of 1300 workers by the Department of Municipal Corporation. Lakhs of candidates applied for this. But at that time, more than 6000 candidates scored 100 out of 100 in the examination. That is why a transparent method was adopted to overcome the deficiencies of earlier workers’ recruitment process.

BJP MLA, Vijay Girkar demanded to cancel the recruitment of workers by the corporation in the Legislature. After this, he met the Chief Minister and demanded the cancellation of the examination. After the demand by the BJP, the House Leader of BMC, Yashwant Jadhav had also demanded to cancel the ongoing exams and conduct re-examination.
