Dadar, Mahim and other areas of G-North ward among the coronavirus hotspots in Mumbai

As per recent updates, the total number of cases in G-North ward has reached 97. As of April 15, 2020, the number of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai has crossed the 2000-mark.

The number of coronavirus cases in Dadar and Mahim has increased over the last few days and keeping this in mind, officials have announced that G-North ward of Mumbai as one of the hotspots in the city of Mumbai. As per recent updates, the total number of cases in this area has reached 97.

On Tuesday, a 55-year-old resident of Dharavi passed away. Further, two people who were a part of the Tableeghi Jamaat Markaz were also quarantined. So far, 60 coronavirus cases have been identified in Dharavi out of which 8 people have died.

On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, three new cases were found in Mahim and two new cases in Dadar. With this, the total number of cases has increased to 9 and 21, respectively in these areas. Two women from Dharavi, aged 47 and 39 have been quarantined, and three people aged 25, 38 and 3 years old, have tested positive. 

Two senior citizens from Dadar's Shivaji Park and one 55-year-old from Mahim have been infected. Over the last week, two people from Mahim died due to coronavirus.

The cases of coronavirus have seen an exponential increase in Mumbai and the city has crossed the 2000-mark with 2010 cases, out of which 1896 are progressive and 114 have died. BMC officials along with Mumbai Police have asked people to follow strict guidelines across the city. Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed at containment zones and at hotspots, where residents are not allowed to leave the premises, under any circumstances. Essentials are being provided at the doorstep.

PM Narendra Modi, in a recent announcement, extended the lockdown in India until May 3, 2020. Further, CM Uadhav Thackeray shared the news that this may extend in the city if the norms are not followed. He requested the citizens to follow the rules, to ensure we successfully fight the virus.
