The BMC is now looking for BAMS doctors for Hinduhrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackarey (HBT) clinics and outreach services, after MBBS and MD doctors.

After MBBS and MD doctors, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is now planning to take BAMS doctors on board for HBT clinics and outreach services. Along with doctors, the civic health department is also looking for auxiliary nurses and midwives (ANM).

To give better health care to Mumbaikars, the BMC has started strengthening its primary health care centre. In its budget for the financial year 2022-23, the civic body had announced the opening of 200 Hinduhrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackarey (HBT) clinics. The civic body launched 66 clinics and polyclinics in a phase-wise manner from October 2 and more will be opened soon.

Nearly, two lakh Mumbaikars have approached these clinics for treatment in the past 100 days.

At present, HBT clinics are run by MBBS doctors and polyclinics have gynaecologists, paediatricians, dermatologists, physicians, and dentists as specialists. However, for outreach services, BMC is looking to hire contractual BAMS doctors for which they are ready to shell out Rs 42,000 a month while ANMs will get Rs 22,000 a month. Doctors with experience working in COVID situations will be given preference.
