To boost sports and provide facilities to sports enthusiasts, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) garden infrastructure cell is planning to construct a multi-sports complex in Santacruz Sambhaji Kridangan. The complex will include a gymnasium, volleyball court, kabaddi court, basketball court, cricket pitch, and a jogging track.
Once constructed, the civic body will make this complex available to citizens at a nominal fee.

It is believed that this complex will have outdoor sports facilities and a viewing gallery. The complex will be spread over three acres. Currently, half of the playground is used by citizens, half of it remains unconstructed, informed a civic official.
Kishor Kshirsagar, deputy municipal commissioner, said the design of the complex is being prepared and tenders will be floated in another month. He added that the entire complex is expected to be ready by 2019.

One of the senior civic officials said that they intend to plan more such complexes so that the common man will get access at nominal rates.
