BMC Relaxes COVID-19 Curbs, Here's What's Allowed

On Tuesday, February 1, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued guidelines, relaxing certain COVID-19 curbs in the city.

Here are the latest restrictions imposed in Mumbai. 

  • Beaches, gardens, parks can function according to normal timing prior to the commencement of the coronavirus pandemic. 
  • Amusement and theme parks can operate with 50 per cent of their capacity. 
  • Swimming pools and water parks can function with 50 per cent of their capacity.
  • Restaurants, theatres, natyagruhas can open with 50 per cent of their capacity according to their normal timing before the commencement of pandemic. 
  • Bhajans, other local, cultural and folk entertainment programs can function with 50 per cent capacity of the premises.
  • Marriages can have guests up to 25 per cent of open ground and banquet capacity or 200 whichever is lower.
  • No restrictions on movement from 11.00 pm to 5.00 am.
  • 25 per cent audience permitted in competitive sports, other activities like horse racing. Capacity to be taken as that of fixed chair and seating arrangement. Standing and movable crowd to be avoided. 
  • Local tourist spots can open according to normal timing.
  • Weekly Bazar can function according to normal timing. 

The said order comes into force from Tuesday, February 1 and will remain in action till February 28, 2022. Previously, the Maharashtra government eased restrictions in districts that have administered 90 per cent of single-dose and 70 per cent of the double dose of vaccination for 18 years or above.
