Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to spend ₹1.62 crore for setting up a social welfare centre in the open space of 152.77 sq meter in Sewri. The proposal to approve the same will be presented before the Standing Committee in the upcoming meeting. 

The proposed design states that the building for social welfare centre will have two floors which will consist of a hall, rooms, and an auditorium. Along with this, a fire prevention system will be installed in the building.

The social welfare centre will be open for the utilisation of local residents. If the standing committee approves the same, the construction work will be completed in one year. However, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the model code of conduct already imposed, the administration might withdraw the proposal.
