According to the latest reports, on Thursday, April 7, the Bombay High Court told the Centre and the Maharashtra government to forget earlier conflicts and commence a new beginning on the Mumbai Metro Line 3 project.

Based on accounts, a division bench remarked that the Union and the state government should solve their differences outside the court and come towards a conclusion on whether the Metro car shed should be shifted to Aarey Colony from Kanjurmarg, some parts of the earlier have been declared a forest area.

On Thursday, an additional solicitor mentioned that the project had been given to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation who said that the Kanjurmarg plot could have technical problems in the future. Owing to this, the move to Kanjurmarg has stayed, he uttered, cited narratives

The court responded that everyone is here to serve the public and questioned why personal differences were being bought to court. The solicitor however elaborated on how they are conducting the activities in the interest of the public of Mumbai in the long run and have consulted experts in the field who have suggested that the project be shifted back to Aarey Colony. A request was also made to the Chief Secretary to reconsider the state's decision, mentioned accounts.

It has been reported that the matter was adjourned by the bench to June 10. The judiciary asked that the stalemate be ended and if a solution is not found in the next week, they will decide the matter on the basis of merits.

For those unversed, the Centre wishes to continue the project at Aarey Colony which was decided by the earlier BJP government in the state. However, the present MVA government wishes to move the car shed to Kanjurmarg in a bid to curtail environmental damage.

Similarly, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had last year told the court that the Kanjurmarg plot was better suited owing to land admeasures and an interchange station.
