The wall collapse and land cave-in in Wadala brought to notice a pending lawsuit filed earlier by the residents of the Wadala Heights Cooperative Housing Society at the city civil court. In light of the urgency of repairs to be done following the Antop Hill collapse on June 25, the Bombay high court has instructed the director of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) to form an expert team. 

This team will be responsible of finding out the cause of the cave-in as well as suggesting immediate and long-term remedial measures.

Dosti Blossoms Cooperative Housing society took it to the HC on Friday to point out cracks developed in the building since construction began on an adjoining plot by Dosti Realty. The housing society has alleged that the civic body did not address its complaints. It also contacted the IIT director who was willing to undertake the job, to which, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the builder had no objection.

IIT Bombay has been asked to constitute a team that will visit the society as well as other similarly affected buildings at Lloyds Estate to suggest immediate and long-term remedial measures at the earliest. The BMC and the builder have been asked to cooperate with the team. The fees for the IIT team will be paid by the builder, Dosti Realty Ltd.
