Western Railway recently announced that it will be shutting down the footover bridge at Goregaon station from February 27. In its statement, Western Railway said,
"Old East Side skywalk & staircase of North Foot Over Bridge at Goregaon station will be closed from 27th Feb, 2020 for dismantling. Passengers may use the newly constructed South staircase, adjacent to old skywalk from Goregaon (North) old Foot Over Bridge."

Therefore, the east side skywalk and the staircase of north foot overbridge will remain shut from Thursday. The passengers have been asked by Western Railway to use the new staircase instead to avoid inconvenience.
The skywalk is being shut down for restoration or repair work. Western Railway is yet to provide a date for the estimated completion of the restoration or repair work.

A few days ago, the foot overbridge at Byculla railway station towards Kalyan connecting Platform No. 1, 2, 3, and 4, was shut down for a month. On the other hand, the staircases of Platform No. 6 and 7 of the foot overbridge at CSMT station were shut down from February 8.
On July 3, 2018, a part of Gokhale bridge collapsed on the railway track between Andheri and Vile Parle disrupting Western Railway services. After which, the railway authorities realised that the bridge was damaged and decided to repair it.
After which, the rail corporation had conducted audits of various FOBs across Mumbai and had accordingly, undertaken repair work for the structures deemed as 'dangerous'.
Meanwhile, the rail corporation had closed the foot overbridge at Goregaon last month. Western Railway had announced that the middle FOB at Goregaon Station would be inaccessible from January 11 as it will go under construction. Western Railway had also issued an advisory stating that commuters should use the new Foot Over Bridge, which connects all platforms on the east side.
