Buffalo Milk Prices Increased from Today in Mumbai

Mumbaikars now will have to shell out more for buffalo's milk as the wholesale price of buffalo milk in Mumbai has increased by INR 5 per litre.This price rise came into effect since Tuesday midnight. This can significantly affect the entire food industry that depends on it as a raw material.

The Mumbai Milk Producers Association (MMPA) had announced a huge hike in the wholesale price of buffalo milk last Friday. MMPA executive committee member CK Singh said, “Wholesale milk prices will be increased from INR 80 per litre to INR 85 per litre and will remain in effect till August 31.”


This will be followed by an increase in the retail market of creamy fresh buffalo milk from over 3,000 retailers across Mumbai, which will now go from INR 85 per litre to around INR 90 per litre from March 1.

Common consumers will be affected by this increase in price. Because along with milk, other dairy products will also become expensive. MMPA Treasurer Abdul Jabbar Chavaniwala said, “This will also affect the rates of tea-coffee-milkshake etc. that are served in restaurants, pavement vendors or small hotels.”
Dairy products like khava, paneer, peda, sweets like barfi, some North Indian or Bengali sweets price might increase.
