Think twice before speeding at Marine Drive

Think twice before speeding at Marine Drive
SHARES

Mumbai’s iconic spot, Marine Drive, is our go-to place for a late night drive. Sadly, some people draw too much inspiration from the ‘Fast and Furious’ or ‘Dhoom’ film franchise as speeding at Marine Drive has become a common scenario. To curb rash driving and speeding, traffic police asked BMC to install cameras on the entire stretch. Automatic Number Plate Registration (ANPR) cameras have been installed and people violating traffic rules won’t be excused. The cameras will capture the vehicle details once the speed level is exceeded and the person behind the wheel will have to pay a hefty fine.

Young blood is hot and racing and they literally bring that to the road. Residents at Marine Drive have faced problems over the years as speeders give them a ‘Formula 1’ jerk late in the night. This disturbance has drawn a lot of attention. Frequency of accidents at Marine Drive has taken a hike as well. The young blood doesn’t think about the consequences of speeding or rash driving and to keep people safe, this decision is a positive one.

Around 23 cameras have been installed at Marine Drive. Bandra-Worli Sea link, Chembur, Expressway are few other places which had cameras installed earlier.

Drive safe, Mumbaikars!
