On Monday, March 28, the newly appointed Mumbai Police Commissioner, Sanjay Pandey took to Twitter to share a report of the work undertaken by the authorities in the last week. Amongst the eight pointers mentioned was an interesting concept, "Car Free Zones". 

Pandey elaborated on how the Car Free Zones concept was internally discussed. During this, they came up with the idea of curtailing the number of cards on Mumbai roads. Certain recommendations included the de-incentivizing of the second car purchased. This will be done by handling depression that they look to take ahead. 

Additionally, recommendations have been made to make certain parts of south Mumbai and other congested areas, car free. The police commissioner added that while they have commenced working on this idea, they will be able to provide an update next week. 

In other developments, Pandey said that the Sunday Street concept could be increased to other locations as well. Moreover, "Silent Sundays" in Mumbai is in the pipeline where only major infrastructure activities such as the Mumbai Coastal Road and the Mumbai Metro project will be permitted

Furthermore, painting of city roads could commence with luminescent paints. On noise pollution, developers were given a deadline of March 31 to put up sound cutters. 

Another menace in Mumbai has been cybercrime, for this, the Mumbai Police will commence educative campaigns through videos and meetings.
