CIDCO officials said the reclaimed land will be used for several ambitious developments including Aerocity, Educity, Medicity, International Corporate Park, Logistic Park, Entertainment Arena, Metro projects, and the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) development.
CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal said the corporation is committed to protecting public land and ensuring Navi Mumbai develops as a planned, world-class city. He stated that the removal of illegal structures reflects CIDCO’s determination to prevent unauthorized occupation and preserve land for projects that will shape the city’s future.
According to CIDCO, unauthorised constructions on corporation-owned land had become a major hurdle in planned urban development. To strengthen enforcement, the responsibility of the Encroachment Control Department has been placed under the Chief Vigilance Officer.
Officials said action against illegal structures has been carried out under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act and in accordance with directions issued by the Supreme Court and High Court. Before conducting demolition drives, notices were issued to encroachers and public notices were also published in newspapers to spread awareness among citizens. During the last two years, hundreds of eviction drives were conducted and large tracts of land were made encroachment-free.
The corporation has also undertaken protective measures to prevent re-encroachment. After demolition, reclaimed plots are being secured through wall compounding and fencing, while some lands are being prepared for auction to ensure productive utilisation.
In the Kharghar–Turbhe Link Road (KTLR) project area, hutments obstructing the project were removed through coordination with residents. CIDCO also registered cases against dumper, truck, JCB, and poclain operators involved in illegal debris dumping and soil theft on CIDCO land.
Similar anti-encroachment drives have also been conducted in the NAINA region, where notices were issued, demolition operations carried out, and illegal hoardings removed to support planned urban development in the extended Navi Mumbai area.
