Taking a serious note of the complaint lodged by New Road Residency Forum regarding slaughter of the mangroves on 88-acre land by the Pan India Paryatan Private Limited (Essel World) in Gorai-Uttan area, the district collector will inspect the area on Thursday, informed complainant Harish Pande.
The concerned company has been allegedly slaughtering the mangrove trees in Gorai area. Earlier, it had cut trees on 15-acre land and now the area of slaughtered trees has reached 88-acres. Pande has registered a complaint in this regard and had sought action against the concerned company. A BMC cell handling mangroves has also prepared a report in this connection and has reportedly blamed the company for slaughter of mangrove trees. The said report of has reportedly been neglected which prompted Pande to take follow up of his complaint with the district collector.
A letter issued by the collectorate has clearly stated that action would be taken against the concerned company if it has violated the law by slaughtering the mangroves.
